The Films

New Yorker Doris Wishman became the queen of the sexploitation film scene in the 1970s, becoming the most successful female filmmaker in that genre. Eventually her work featuring Chesty Morgan would even be featured in cult film director John Waters’ own Serial Mom. This Doris Wishman triple feature from Image Entertainment contains the two films Wishman did with the famous Chesty Morgan. Reportedly, Chesty Morgan (AKA Zsa Zsa, born Lillian Wilczkowska), features the largest bust measurement on record for a film star at 73-inches. As one might expect, this is the sole reason for the existence of her two feature films, Deadly Weapons and Double Agent 73, in which her “assets” feature quite prominently. Not surprisingly from the sexploitation genre, be prepared for plenty of gratuitous nudity and thin, confused plots containing copious amounts of sex and violence. In Deadly Weapons, Chesty plays a real estate agent whose mob boyfriend is bumped off, so she goes undercover as a stripper in Vegas using her “deadly weapons” to rub out the guys who killed him. In Double Agent 73, Chesty is, well, a double agent with a “booby trapped” camera quite conveniently implanted in her buxom bosom. She must use it it bring down a drug ring. Lastly, and somewhat more explicit, yet still not pornographic, the disc contains a non-Chesty Morgan title, The Immoral Three. The Double Agent 73 character is back, but this time she is the slain mother of three daughters by different men. The three stepsisters are brought together at the reading of their mother’s will for the first time, learning that they are not orphans. They must now move in together in their wealthy late mother’s estate and seek revenge on her killer. In fact, what happens is all sorts of sexual debauchery – no, not between the three sisters, you pervs.

Video Quality

All three films actually look better than expected, all things considered. There isn’t much source damage to speak of, a thin layer of grain remains allowing for a natural appearance and flesh tones look true. Naturally, quality fluctuates given the numerous effects sequences that are spliced into the films and so on, but overall quality is pretty consistent. Colors are rather strong, especially the primaries like reds, yellows, and greens.

Audio Quality

As one might imagine for these low budget films, the sound isn’t much to write home about and, in fact, Image has only supplied the mixes in lossy Dolby Digital 2.0 making matters worse. There is still a lot of hiss, pops, and clicks audible in the tracks for Deadly Weapons and Double Agent 73, but they are tolerable nonetheless. The Immoral Three, on the other hand, is plagued with audio dropouts and very loud pops that makes it very annoying to watch.

The Definitive Word

Overall:

I’d call these films “classic,” but that might be a stretch. They are certainly some of the better known sexploitation films, and if that’s your thing, then, by all means, pick this release up, as I’m sure they’ve never looked better than this.
